Biomarker Records From Eocene Lacustrine Sequence in the Eastern Tibet Plateau and Its Implication for Organic Matter Sources

چکیده

The Eocene is the initial stage of Cenozoic global cooling. Compared with abundant marine records, continental records are scarce. Throughout Eocene, a series continuous deposition gypsum and volcanic tuff-bearing red clastic sediments have developed in Nangqian Basin (NB). In this work, representative were collected from NB, lipid biomarkers compound-specific carbon isotopes n -alkanes analyzed. Based on robust paleomagnetic age–depth model, early to late isotopic compositions (δ 13 C 23 δ 25 ) increased sedimentary facies changed. At same time, relative proportion mid-chain length long-chain homologs (Paq) decreased, peak number (C max shifted 21 , 22 or 16 27 31 . We ascribed these variations climate drying water level turning high as indicated by lithology change fluvial lacustrine terrestrial inputs neighboring mountain belts middle–late Eocene. Moreover, we compared our -alkane results other TP sea benthic 18 O. found that nearly synchronous deformation eastern caused India–Asia collision was closely related arid conditions topographically changed northern TP. NB mainly controlled uplift affected Paratethys Sea long scale.

Lacustrine sedimentary organic matter records of Late Quaternary paleoclimates

Identification of the sources of organic matter in sedimentary records provides important paleolimnologic information. As the types and abundances of plant life in and around lakes change, the composition and amount of organic matter delivered to lake sediments changes. Despite the extensive early diagenetic losses of organic matter in general and of some of its important biomarker compounds in...

Tetraether biomarker records from a loess-paleosol sequence in the western Chinese Loess Plateau

The ubiquitous occurrence of glycerol dialkyl glycerol tetraethers (GDGTs) in soils and their ability to record temperature and environmental changes offer the prospect of independently reconstructing continental paleotemperature and paleoenvironment from the loess-paleosol sequences (LPS) from the Chinese Loess Plateau (CLP). In this study we present records of GDGT-derived proxies for the las...

the search for the self in becketts theatre: waiting for godot and endgame

this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...

REVIEW PAPER Lacustrine organic geochemistryman overview of indicators of organic matter sources and diagenesis in lake sediments

-The factors affecting the amounts and types of organic matter in lacustrine sediments are summarized in this review, and synthesis, of published studies. Biota hving in the lake and in its watershed are the sources of the organic compounds initially contributed to the lake system. Microbial reworking of these materials during sinking and early sedimentation markedly diminishes the total amount...

Changes in Temperature Sensitivity and Activation Energy of Soil Organic Matter Decomposition in Different Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Grasslands

Qinghai-Tibet Plateau grasslands are unique geographical regions and store substantial soil organic matter (SOM) in the soil surface, which make them very sensitive to global climate change. Here, we focused on three main grassland types (alpine meadow, steppe, and desert) and conducted a soil incubation experiment at five different temperatures (5, 10, 15, 20, and 25°C) to investigate SOM deco...
